Newbie here, I really hope to overcome this demon of opiates. After being injured in iraq I had several surgeries and before I knew it I had too have those stupid pills too feel normal.I went too my dr and asked for help and asked what I should do that I wanted off the pills, the dr's exact words was DEAL WITH IT! That infuriated me,so please if anyone understands my anger please help me thru this.thanks

Rt13, I would try a different doctor. Clearly, he doesn't understand the nature of addiction and has a horrible bedside manner. In any profession, you are going to find both good and bad. It's understandable that you are infuriated. Please see a reputable addiction specialist. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you for your service!

Tanja gave you some good advice. That doctor sounds like an unempathetic jerk!

I am sorry you are experiencing pain. Get another doctor, go to an addiction specialist, and maybe try NA. I believe the VA has some rehab programs you may want to go to?

Welcome to SR! You will find a lot of support and understanding here. And most importantly, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!!! Take care.

I agree with the above.

Lose that dr fast and get one who you can talk to about your problem.

Thanks for all the kind words,it just amazes me how quick this comes on,and the very dr's who prescribed the legal dope run out on you when you need them the most.I'm actively seeking a new dr now and when I beat this problem I'm going too personally confront the old dr and show him sometimes the patient is smarter than they assume,a medical license isn't a license too harm!!! God bless
