Quit drinking 2 months ago ?

I have been drinking everyday for 20+ years. My drink of choice was Canadian Wisky. Weekly I drank 2 - 1.75L of Black Velvet. This does not include beer and wine.

I stopped cold turky on Sept. 7. I went to the doctor for help (in the past I attempet to quit and hed awfull night sweats) for the night sweats. The doctor gave me 2 scripts, one for the night sweats and one for DTs. My soberity was not as hard as I thought it was going to be (I am lucky). I have been off of the night sweat meds for a month now without any issues. and I did not have the DTs to bad. I did this on my own, My wife heples me alot.

My question is - I am urinating alot more now that I quit drinking (2 to 3 X more). I have not found anything on the internet that explains this. Is it just me or has anyone else had this problem?

Hi

Welcome and well done on your sober time!

I would think it's because you're no longer dehydrated x

Don't know about that but you could be drinking more water or other drink that will make you urinate more.

If your worry about this then call your doctor or see him in person about this issue you have. Good job on 2 months of sobriety.

Tucker,

Same thing for me, 20+ years drinking and just quit. I noticed the same thing, I attribute mine to drinking more liquids that are not alcohol. If you drank like me it was about 50/50 whiskey/pop at that mix you probably urinate 10% of the liquids consumed. When you drink just water it's closer to 90% - fruit and veggie juice I'd say it's probably 75-85%. I even have to get up in the middle of the night most nights now and never had to do that before!

Congratulations on two months, sounds like you have a good handle on things.

Hi Tucker - welcome.

I have no idea really. If you're worried it's probably best to go back to your Dr

That's interesting. I stopped drinking a couple days ago and I am not urinating at all. I feel bloated.

Welcome RedElbows
If that goes on for too much longer I'd see a Dr?
