Who spent Halloween weekend sober?
I did!! Grant it I have been sick for the past couple of days but honestly in the past that never stoped me from going out and having some drinks with my friends. Not this year! I am determined to continue on my path to health and less drinking and I can honestly say that I have not had a drink since my birthday last weekend. 7 days strong
Good going!
Way to go! I made it through Halloween weekend, too, and I'm also on Day 7.
My husband wanted to go out on Saturday to look at the costumed people on Main St. Of course, he wanted to stop into a bar for a beer... we went. I wasn't tempted. I feel so absolute about my sobriety that there was no question or justification talk in my mind.
I guess I could be irked that he is not supportive of my new sobriety, but on the other hand, there will always be alcohol everywhere I go (even the grocery store, c-store, whatever, you can't avoid it) so if I'm going to do this, I'm doing it no matter what the circumstances.
My new drink of choice is grapefruit juice.
Good job, and keep me posted on your progress.

Visited a friend who I used to enjoy fine Scotch and pricey cigars with. I told him I quit drinking for health reasons. He said, "Good for you. I don't blame you." He had a couple beers, I had my tonic & bitters, and it wasn't mentioned again. Had a great time.
There's nothing better than being sober
for the holidays. I know because I have
been for the past 21 yrs. and it continues
to be a blessing.
All the holiday lights will be bright and
cheerful to enjoy.

I quit in October 2 years ago, a bit before Halloween. It may not seem the easiest time of year to quit, with festivities coming up, but it can be done! Getting better is more important than the date you choose. Can get through these things now with little if any thought of drinking. With Thanksgiving coming up, I'll be giving my thanks for being sober.
I did too and it marked 10 months for me!! Whoohoo! I remember last year on Halloween....it all started with the candy, tons and gobs of it...then I ripped off some pills from someone cuz I was so tired I needed a boost. That was the beginning of the end for me. Today I am thankfully sober working a very strong program! <3 Lily

I went to a party friday, I was the only one not drinking, nobody asked me about it, I didnt mention my sobriety to anyone, it just didnt come up. I left early, had to work sat. driving home an hour in the pouring rain I was happy alcohol is no longer a part of my life.
14 days without a drink for me.. and I use to have a drink before during and after giving out candy.. not this year.. it is sort of boring handing out candy becasue when I drank I would be more open and ask the kids what they are and joke with them and can't seem to be that open sober.. sad isn't it??
