First Monday morning in the office without stinking of booze
Today is the first Monday in the office for a long time that I don't have the embarrassment of smelling like half empty glass of wine.
I feel like going up to people and saying, 'Do you know I didn't drink this weekend?' or 'Have you noticed I don't stink of booze?'.
A clear head, improved confidence and an appetite to do some work, it's a pretty good feeling.
I'm only on day 6, so I'm not getting carried away. I usually play football with my mates on a Monday night, and we always have a beer afterwards, which ends up with me going home and downing a bottle of wine before I go to bed.
So this week I've told them I can't play, because I wan't to get the week off to a good start.
Thanks to everyone who has replied to any of my posts since I started, you really have played your part in getting me through my first sober weekend in years and years.

Nice job, folks. Get some weeks under your belt before you slowly return to lifestyle issues that present temptations. If you love playing football, that's great. Play it, but you can't drink afterwards. Bring some non-alcoholic beverage to drink and enjoy. Your mates will give you some grief for not drinking, but you're in charge of what you consume. Tell them you've got to be at work early the next day. Or whatever. Keep it up.
Congrats on your first sober weekend.
I'm also enjoying a sober Monday. Went to my first AA dance on Saturday. It's possible to dance and have a good time and not drink. A change of my drinking friends was necessary though.

Keep up the good work paulo. Staying sober brings all sorts of challenges, but the rewards are so beautiful. Seems like you have a plan in place and are thinking through possible triggers. Well done!

Paulo,
Congratulations...I noticed that about day 6, I felt really physically better than ever. It's day 8 today, and I think I could paint my whole house with the energy and feeling of being well that I have. Comparing this feeling to my usual, after weekend lingering hangover of 3 days, I can't even imagine how I was able to function at all. Talk about hard work!
Keep it up!!!

I can relate paulo , except I don't stink of vodka :-)
I think people will notice over time that you are way more together even when problems come up. Sounds like you have the priority of staying sober and away from situations were drinking is likely or expected so well done on that too. That isn't easy.
I am just at day 16 but enjoying today and the lift of the grip that had me deep three weeks ago....
Have a great Tuesday as well!

Great job!!!!Kinda makes talking with your co-workers easier. I always had to keep a 5 ft barrier around myself.....even though I know that it didnt help. Good on you and stay strong tonight.
