AA versus OA
AA versus OA
I've always thought I had more of a food problem than a drinking problem. Today I made a list of all my drinking and non-drinking years since age 15. Was surprised to learn that its always been the drinking years that I gained weight. I'm sure not only from all the beer but the chips, snack foods, and pizza that go good with beer. I've never wanted fruit or veggies with beer. Snack mix was often a meal.
I really had no clue that there could be such a connection between alcoholism and the tendency to over eat. I mean, I knew that connection existed within MYSELF..LOL...but I didn't realize that I had kindred spirits out there who battle that same insatiable appetite for food as they do for alcohol. I haven't completely poked around every inch of this message board yet - curious to look around and see if there is a weight loss / healthy eating type forum....
I love to cook and when I was still active I would usually eat really nice square meals when I wasn't drunk. When I was drunk (which was most evenings) I would usually make this really nice elaborate meal, decide it was too much effort to eat it and end up eating junk food/convenience food instead, usually more out of habit than actual hunger.
Right now I am eating homemade red salmon thai curry and I have to say it's much more enjoyable than something weird that comes out of a microwave/chex mix.
