Roxy Withdrawals -- Desperate for HELP
Hello. I used to be hook on Oxycontin but have been clean for about 5 yrs until this past month. I visited my hometown and proceeded to smoke about 80 30mg Roxy pills over a 25 day period. I have since left and came back "home" where I have no mental desire to go back to Roxy's, but I am being ravaged by WITHDRAWALS. I smoked my last one on Wed. night, felt pretty rough on Thursday(hot/cold, fatigue), even worse yesterday when I started having weird bowel movements and then I woke up this morning to it all. Puking, diarrhea, cold/hot flashes. I have been able to get about 5 hours of rest a night, but I am wondering if there is any in-home remedy I can do to ease the pain? I am pretty poor, doctor/rehab is NOT an option. I will NEVER go back to these terrible things, but is there a easier way to go through this? Is there a home remedy that helps that does not require me going anywhere other than the store? Do you think today is the worst day or if it will continue to get worse?? Desperate for help, and grateful for ANY and ALL advice!

We cannot give or take medical advice here. You should see a doctor, There are free and low cost clinics that can help you. There is a website with a list of low/no cost clinics around the U.S, perhaps this can help. Free/Low-Cost/Sliding-Scale Clinics
Of course if things keep getting worse, you should not hesitate to visit a ER Or contact emergency services.

Welcome DesperateFL -
I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. As SeekSobriety said, there's a policy here against giving medical advice...... We don't want to steer anyone wrong and have something bad happen.
We can share our experience, however. I hope you'll check out our substance abuse section:Substance Abuse - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
It makes a huge difference to have the support of others who are going through the same thing.
Let us know how you're doing (and do see a doctor if you can)......:ghug3

Hi DesperateFL,
You might want to check out some of the threads on the substance abuse forum.
Even though we can't give medical advice, there is a lot of information there to help you understand what people typically go through in withdrawal.
For me, the first week was feeling like I had the horrible flu, with stomach cramps, body aches, restless legs, restless body, crazy racing thoughts, insomnia, and HUGE FATIGUE. I was shocked at what stopping a drug like opiates would do to me.
The first 3-4 days are the worst. After the first week, you'll start to feel like you are getting better, but you'll still have extreme fatigue for awhile. Also insomnia is terrible, and that can last a few months.
The main thing is that detoxification involves sweating and diarrhea, as the opiates leave your system. Some people get non narcotic prescriptions from their doc to help with jitteriness and insomnia. Some people get relief from OTC stomach aids. I can't tell you which one you should buy, but a lot of people use immodium. Everyone gets advised to call their doctor for really worrisome symptoms, and that is good advice.
Congratulations on your decision to get and stay clean. Opiates are just not worth it, and the fake sense of well being soon turns to feeling sick all the time, and eventually you end up using just to not feel sick. That's what happened to me.
Good luck. A good thread to start with on the substance abuse forum is the "I'm going cold turkey...." which is an old thread that morphed into Kicking the Oxys. Check some of the older versions for lots of withdrawal talk, although a lot of the threads there talk about it, too.

Well it is late into Day 4 and I am feeling much more alive. I have been eating bananas and healthy protein shakes. I still have fatigue and the aspirin I took seems to have alleviated much of my aching. Am I through the worst of it?? Still super depressed but I know that I will go to GOD to help me. He is the one I always run from and then my choices ruin me...

Well it is Day 5 now, and I think I may have slept 4 hrs?? I have lied here with my eyes closed, mind racing for the last 4 or 5 hrs. Is this normal? I took melotonin last night, and nyquil, and still only managed 4 or 5 hrs. ROUGH! Is there anything I can do to speed this wretched process up? The Roxy's are EVIL!!!!

Just did the hardest thing I have ever done. I told those closest to me, and boy do I feel better. I am grateful these men have a REAL relationship with God and have extended the same grace and mercy Jesus does. They are gonna help me battle back to my feet with me, and I literally feel a thousand times better now that I got it in the open with those closest too me.
It's best to see your Dr I think if insomnia is concerning you, but there are some common sense suggestions here that might help?

Despite no sleep it has been a great day. Still feel like a 90 year old man(I am 29 and an avid athlete) yet I feel so free now that I got my junk out in the open. Spent some time with people who love me and tell me the truth and not what just is easy to say or what feels/sounds good. Gotta love true friends.
