Oh, wow, thanks so much to each of you.
This morning when I made my first post I was contrite and laid it all on the line. I had such good intentions today, especially after hearing from you folks here.
I spent the day learning about AVRT and reading Under the Influence. As usual, I had made the promise to myself not to drink. Sure enough, by 3:30 pm I headed to the store for a bottle of wine, finished that off (put in a coffee cup, of course, to look acceptable), and then headed for, and drank, most of my DH's special, expensive scotch.
Worst of all, I don't even feel drunk. Cr@p. I'll try again tomorrow. It sucks.

Welcome oakwood,
I really enjoyed "Under the influence" Though I found that just reading about quitting and quitting were two different things. It's good that you recognize that drinking has become a problem. You have to understand that you can do this! It sounds like early afternoon is when things get tough for you. Maybe tomorrow around 1 or 2pm, you can post here when you get the urge to drink.
There are a lot of good people here with great experiences. Again you can do it! Keep posting/lurking

Oakwood,
So don't let drinking yesterday stop you from trying again today. I had many, many false starts this time around. You have got to really want to be sober. I guarantee you it won't get any easier, and adverse events will begin to happen, whether you realize it or not. (The adverse event could be your health and looks, for one thing.)
