Day One Of The End of Addiction
Today is the first day of my new life....or so I hope... I have been on Norco 10/325 for about 2 years, but in the most recent months was taking up to 15 per day, sometimes more. Yesterday I only took 6 and this morning (7am which seems so long ago) I took only two. I have no more and want to keep it that way. I'll be able to get them again, but want to avoid that and get through this cold turkey. I have lost the love of my life due to the lies and deciet I have bestowed on him. Not to mention how miserable I have become. I tried weaning off of them,l but they were too accessible. It only cause me to be more deceitful and I spiraled ut of control-even stealing from my love to get money for the stuff. I feel so ashamed and miserable. I have never tried to stop or been through withrdrawal. Must admit I am terrified. I don't really have a support system and will be going through it alone. Any advice? ANy words of encouragement..how about withdrawal relief? HELP I feel so alone!!!

The part in bold is troubling. You are choosing the short-term discomfort of withdrawal to allow for long-term normalcy. Don't just hope, believe it, and then do it. Set your confidence level arbitrarily at 100%. No regrets.
All self-doubt is your addiction talking.

Welcome!
I know the thought of talking to a doctor about help may scare you but that is what they are there for, no judgement, they just help to the best of their ability. It may not be what you want to hear, but I highly suggest it. Quiting cold turkey in most cases leads back to wanting what your body is craving. I really hope that doesn't happen for you. You have come to a wonderful support group. Keep reading and posting! =)

Hi PleaseAdvise
I have no experience with the drugs you mention but I think of you're scared of withdrawal a consultation with a Dr would be a good thing.
We also have a substance abuse forum here you might like to check out as well

Thank you all so much for you're support. Here I thought I was alone....ANd you're right...no hope, only belief. 10 hours and counting. I can do this!! I have no money at all, I don't think I can even afford a doctor...i know its sad, but thats what I'm trying to do. Weaning didn't work I am around the stuff too much cause other people I live with have it. I'm hoping cold turkey is the answer
Many places now have free or low cost clinics, especially if you're in a big city like LA.
Google 'free clinics' and your city.
not sure how up to date this is but there are a number of links here too, with particular emphasis on CA:

Hey PleaseAdvise! I'm nit much ahead of you. I'm at about 50 hours off of Norco too. It's intense, but don't even allow the thought of going back linger in your brain. Remind yourself that when you had it, you wanted to quit it! So stick it out!
Like TU said, set your confidence level to full. You will do this, because you can. That's it. No excuses, no options.
The detox will take a while (check the substance abuse forum down the page for some personal accounts), but you need to have a plan for later. You need to decide what your plan for using in the future is going to be.
Good Luck and stick around here for a while, PleaseAdvise. This is a good place to be, with many many wise and caring people.
