recently quit drinking
i have recently decided to quit drinking after i got arrested for taking a friend home after i had been drinking. so far i have mood swings and i cant sleep. when i used to drink i used to drink 6-8 during the week days and more during fri sat and sun. i had been drinking since my senior year in hs in 08. is what im experiencing normal or no...and if so what do i do....im the type of person that doesnt like being angry all the time...
Totally normal. I also experienced alot of anxiety and depression type feelings for about a couple weeks after I quit as well. These feelings can last for up to a few months in some people, so give it some time. Congrats on quitting!!!!
Congratulations on deciding to get sober. Yes, it takes some adjusting to, but is so worth it.
Hang in there through the rough spots. You can do it without picking up a drink. Many of us have. You're young, and have your whole life in front of you. I wish I was as smart as you and taken action then. Instead, I went through thirty years of misery.
Best to you!

Welcome, mshort!
Congratulations on making a great decision! Like the others have said, it takes time for our brains/bodies to adjust. I had insomnia for several days, brain fog, irritability, tiredness and mood swings. It really does get better, though.
When I first got here, I couldn't imagine life without drinking. But I took it one day at a time and began to see my life improve physically, mentally, and emotionally. Now I wouldn't have it any other way.
Keep reading and posting - we all need support to do this!
