Newbie Here

Hey guys and gals, I'm a Drug Addict and have been hooked on Pain Pills for about 3 years now. I have tried to quit several times and seem to fail everytime I try. I'm going to try it again this week, so wish me luck. Thanks, JDS

This is my second post since last year with several attempts of trying to be clean as well. I am happy to report that I'm in my 8th day of being Pain Pill Free and it has been very rough. I was a user of Hydros, Perks and Oxys for the past couple of years. I have been reading in this forum how everyone else has been dealing with withdrawal symptoms each day from the first day of soberiety. Mine seem very similar to everyone else's, but with my health problems, I get scared at times and I'm not sure if it's a withdrawal symptom or not. I have COPD and require oxygen most of the time and I'm over weight too. The good news is that I have lost some weight from not being able to eat very much for the last 8 days. I have tried to get out and walk some, but I find myself getting very tired with pain in places I didn't know I had.
My question is, does this sound like normal withdrawal symptoms or should I be worried?
Thanks, JDS

I just realized that my post is probably in the wrong forum. I'm very sorry for not paying attention. I'll try and put in in the right place.

Welcome back JDS

The short answer is I have no idea I'm afraid - but if you're concerned, and you have these other health issues, maybe its best for you to see your Dr?

This forum is fine for you - everyone's welcome here - but you might like to look around our substance abuse forum too

I'm will be going into day 10 at 3PM today. Felling much better, but the stomach still acts up some. I am able to eat again, but have to watch what I eat or it lets me know. LOL Seems like getting out and walking helps and Lots and Lots of Prayer.

Thanks everyone. SR has been a lot of help so far. I find myself logging in several times a day checking new post and searching old ones.

Today has been the best day by far. No withdrawal symptoms and my stomach is back to normal. I still eat light meals and walk daily in hopes of lossing so more weight. I still think about the pills from time to time, but I guess that will leave me in due time. It's a Great Feeling to be Sober. I rode my motorcycle for about 60 miles today and it felt great. I know that I'm still not out of the woods yet, but I don't think I will ever go back. I can't tell everyone how much this site S/R has helped me. I also have major support from my wife too. JDS

That's Awesome JDS...I wish you the best...I have a few friends that have recovered from those same drugs you mentioned...They use the program of NA for support and having a program to keep them clean...Have you considered that? This site is wonderful but being around and meeting people with the same goal you have can really help. Good luck on your journey to clean living.
