What works for me is working and living the steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. My obsession around alcohol and drinking is gone completely. Now I don't want to drink anymore. Susan

(somehow this was left off my earlier post)

as for you title of this thread......I would suggest that IF YOU can just "turn it off" you may not really BE an alcoholic. That's part of the deal....we alcoholics can't "just turn it off" on our own or we would have done so a lonnnnng time ago.

Luckily, WE don't have much to do with turning it off...it gets turned off FOR us. (in AA, that is).
