Great List

Stumbled across this the other day when I really felt like drinking. For me it eased the craving a lot. Maybe it could help other newcomers..? Pretty much stuff we all already know, but it was helpful to have fresh in mind when having drinking thoughts..

I'm only on day 1. I'm really looking forward to all that stuff.

You will start feeling remarkably better within just a couple of days
I would have to agree with all of these on that list except for this one. This is an unrealistic expectation for some people like me. Alcohol withdrawal symptoms and the anxiety that goes along with it can last a long time. I deal with this anxiety everyday and I'm on day 43.

Very true. Guess it varies with the individual and their circumstances. I generally feel much better after only a couple days abstinent because a couple days ago I was likely very hungover!

This list is excellent for people who haven't been drinking for years and years and would like to quit. But, for people like me who have been drinking for a very long time then they will go through some alcohol withdrawal and will most likely not be feeling great in just a couple of days.

That list was the first thing I found after I had made my Big Plan to never drink again. I printed out a couple of copies of it and left them around the house, and one copy in my car. The first times to the mall where I would pick up were tests for me, made easier by reading this list before I went in. I think it really helped my resolve.

Thanks for posting that.

Good list - I'll have to keep coming back to it. I'm looking at the money aspect as a big motivator for me - maybe I can finally get out of debt.

Well, not to be a buzzkill, BUT...while some of those things will happen if a person simply stops drinking, some of them also depend on making some other changes in their thinking and behavior. Those changes only become possible when a person is sober, but being sober alone won't make those things happen. It takes us reinvesting in our lives for all those wonderful things to come true. Getting sober is the most important investment of all.
