TOPIC: Just One Voice
Hi. Im Sharon and I'm an Alcoholic.
By the grace of my HP and people like
you here, I havent found it necessary
to pick up a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and the program of AA, Faith,
Honesty, Openmindness and Willingness,
I am truely grateful today.
As I wrote in my topic title, Just One
Voice, that is exactly what I am. One
of many voices in recovery sharing my
own ESH - Experiences, Strengths and
Hopes of what it was like before, during
and after alcohol.
Call me old school if u wish or old timer
and that doesnt bother me in the least.
Im not here to boast about how much
recovery time I have but rather humbly
share about the quality of recovery instead.
I read shares of others and it saddens me
to hear how the newcomer is being treated
in early recovery. How those with numbers
of yrs sober become the boss and tell them
what to do. Where's the easier softer way
or gentle way of lending a helping hand to
those who still suffer with addiction.
In recovery we learn not to take anothers
inventory and accept them just as they are
and who am I to judge them. Still its bothersome.
I am just one voice who is pleasantly grateful
for the progress I have made in recovery simply
by following in the paths of many who have
lead me down the path following their footsteps
one at a time.
Don't give up hope or be discouraged and think
the AA or NA recovery program doesnt work,
because it does and it has and still is for me.
One small voice of many who lends a gentle, helping
hand leading the way to a brighter tomorrow addiction
free.
