Sober Weekends / 6 Months
What a wonderful Saturday morning, I’ve been up since 5:30 AM; I used to have to stay up all night to be up this early. I’ve noticed that I can get up and walk around even go outside before bathing, don’t get me wrong I am all for daily hygiene but I used to smell like alcohol and was ashamed to leave the house before a bath, now I can sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee not worrying if anyone smells the stitch of last nights booze before jumping in the shower.
I got to get in to mechanic mode, I got my emissions for 2 cars coming up in a month, last year I waited until my birthday before even thinking about it and it cost me a ticket and aggravation, not to mention a late fee at the tag office.
Not being hung over on Saturdays has so many advantages…
Well, today is 6 months sober, it doesn’t seem that long ago that I was a mess, I am grateful to this forum and to you all who share your experiences.
I know it seems like it’s easy for those that have finally got some sober time under their belt but I was one of those chronic relapse guys. My wife actually started taking notes on my failures and that really didn’t help at all. 1 day here, 2 & 3 days there, 7 & 14 days, those were my biggest trip up points, I’ve had lots of relapses, never think your hopeless, never quit trying.
I wish everyone a great weekend, I wish to those that still suffer that you find some relief soon; it is possible to live sober.

6 months gained! Amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing that living sober is truly possible. My first few days sober are such a blur but I know I was thinking there's no way I can go 6 months without drinking, who does that???
YOU DID!!!

It IS a beautiful hangover free day! I wathed the end of Arthur, went to a 9 am meeting on the 9th step, ate, have coffee waiting (it's legal), had a lovely donut, returned the redbox movie, got another, finishing filing the last of the paperwork that's been decorating my living room, and don't have too much left to unpack from my move in January.
Nothing got done until 90 days ago!
And I thought drinking was ok....
What denial I lived.
Today I'm more sober than yesterday. Now, to just start my 4th step.....
5 pm sounds good...
Maybe a noon meeting? (12:30 today)?
Have a great rest of today!

Congrats enjoy it! I started going back to old ways and old thinking at around that point, although I didn't drink it was hard to get my mind back pointed towards sobriety. Good luck and watch out for old habits! CONGRATS ONE MOAR TIME

Thanks everyone, I had a pretty good day yesterday, except last night the AC went out, looks like I am going to need a brand new unit, I guess it’s true being sober won’t stop problems, I just have to deal with them head on.
Well, the next 6 months should be interesting, I don’t think I ever stayed sober through any particular season before, I quit in February so I made it through spring and most of the summer already, I say bring on fall, this heat was a nice change last winter but it’s time for it to cool down for Pete’s sake!
Happy Sober Sunday!
