I sooo feel for you. I am 20 days clean and sober today, and never want to go through those first days again. It took 8 days for me before I really felt human again. Yes, I had all the symtoms that go along with detox, All of them !!! But......it is over and I survived. I know myself well enough to realize that I could not "ween" myself off, it would have just led to another binge.
Thankfully, posting on this site and getting encouragement from everyone was the only thing that gave me a "light at the end of the tunnel." Everyone told me it would pass, and it did. I feel physically great, but am still dealing with some feelings of guilt, inadequacy, low self-esteem.....but these too will pass.
Hang in there, you can do it, and congradulations on a week.

Whoot! Congrats! It does get easier every day and you will feel human again very soon, just keep on hanging in there. My first week was horrible, and I have been through that first week more times than I care to remember. Should be enough to keep us from going back, but sadly it doesn't.
Keep up the great work and hang in there

teetee - You never have to go back there ever again. Every day will be a little better & the sun will shine in your life once more. (People from Philly can't be kept down for long )
