How much?
So, are you asking because you are wondering if you are an alcoholic? or are you asking because depending on the answer it may allow you to give yourself permission to drink more? I am venting here......sorry.
I was drinking too much, too often, and in a problematic way. Alcohol was the center of my life, in short.

The level's going to be different for everyone- and sometimes it's just that the alcohol is a reflection of lots of other problems (it was for me).
But to answer your question, my nightly routine started with a beer, moved to half a bottle of bourbon, then to 3 or 4 glasses of wine, and finished with a few hits of strong pot. Passed out by 10PM. At 6 PM the next day the routine started all over again.

It was really just out of curiosity. I know that I am an alcoholic. I never want to drink more than I have recently.

How much? A lot. But you know, I knew a lot of people who drank a lot. But me? I drank in secret, I drank before work, I drank at work, I drank as soon as I woke up on the weekends. THAT'S how I knew I needed to do something.

I agree with everyone else-- there is no certain number of drinks that would make it clear you are an alcoholic. For myself, I was drinking different amounts during different stages of my drinking career, with the most being a bottle of whiskey, vodka, or rum a night. I think the only thing that matters is how a person thinks about alcohol and whether or not they control it. I couldn't.

By the end of my drinking...I was a bar fly with periods of black outs. I have no idea how much I was drinking.
I can tell you my brain became saturated with alcohol...and that was a really dark depressed time in my life.
Grateful to now be a successfully recovered AA alcoholic....
Since you know you are an alcoholic....what are you doing about it?
Many of us are winning over booze and so can you.
