Im New
Hello,
I am a newcomer to this site. I have struggled with alcohol for years and have tried to quit before. Im hoping this is the first day of my last attempt at quitting alcohol. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Hi Dee74,
I am just trying to consume my time with healthy stuff. I have been reading a lot about quitting. I have been to one AA meeting before and if I need to I will go again. My relationship fell apart today and that is really the kicker for me. I have wanted to stop for so long and now after losing this person I know I must change. I hope I can do it.

Welcome!
One of the best things you can do is create a plan for how you are going to stay sober. This may be simple or complicated, whatever works for you. Don't try to blindly stumble into sobriety or you're likely to stub your toe and fall over! As they say, those who fail to plan plan to fail.
You can learn a lot of great tips here. Best of luck in your recovery.

Hi - I think joining this forum and reading about quitting are awesome first steps. I turned a corner when I changed from thinking about quitting, and thinking I had a problem, to knowing absolutely and without a doubt that drinking was ruining my life.
I needed a lot of help to quit. Individual therapy, group therapy, and support from a recovering alcoholic parent.
Early on, taking a lot of vitamins and supplements that were supposed to improve my liver helped. It was a concrete thing I could do everyday to feel healthy. good luck

Welcome Benny!
I think its good if you looked back and see what damage alcohol has done to your life, and from there, build up a plan and start executing it. It helps tremendously if you get help.
Best of luck.
