New to site/ pros and cons of methadone treatment

I have been lurking for a few days and not found the answers I need. I am wanting the pros and cons of MMT (methadone maintenance treatment)?

My son 30 has just recently started on a state funded program. He has a heroin addiction and has for 4-6 years. This is his first real attempt to get help. Or is it help?

Oh, have I made a mistake joinging this forum? I seen post from wifes, husbands,and mothers. I'm not an addict but have two sons with addictions.

I am just wnting some input from some that have used this method, good or bad. I am really hopping for some helped me and it is what really worked for me kind of help.

No, no mistake. You can post in any forum. Dee was just suggesting you look at the Methadone forum he linked. Maybe your questions could be answered there.
