Hi I want to introduce myself!!!
Hi everyone I am Jami and this is my day 1! I am a mother of 3 beautiful kids and wife to a wonderful man. I have put all of this in danger by drinking! I cannot lose my family and will do whatever i need to do to kick this addiction! I want my old self back and I want to give my husband his wife back! I love him to much to continue hurting him this way! I would appreciate any and all feed back and support. Thanks
Welcome Jami, and happy day 1. Sounds like you have a lot to be sober for. Don't know your drinking history so not sure what feedback to give you. Generally, involve your doctor in detox and any other support you have available. I'm sure on SR you'll get both feedback and support. Thank you.

Welcome
Welcome MX3. Congratulations on your decision to quit drinking. That is step one.
I thank God that I was sober the entire time my girls were little and at home. Back then, being a mom was the ultimate "high" for me. But life doesn't stand still - sadly - before you know it, they're grown up, move away, and have a life of their own. Thats why you need to hold precious every day you have with them. (And if you have a loving husband at your side, you are twice as blessed.)
You are in the right place for acceptance and support - and help - though those tough times. Do you keep a journal?

no i don't keep a journal but might start! as far as my drinking history goes i was a social drinker all through college but once out and married i hardly ever drank. i didnt start to drink till my oldest was abou two but nothing heavy or excessive just a glass of wine maybe two a couple days a week. my drinking started getting worse when my 5 year old was abot 2 years old. i have a one year old now and the last 6-8 mos has been my worst. i usually drink alone which i know is no good!!! i just want this to end and have happiness again! i am looking to my Cod and support from others to get through this!

Congrats on being a stay-at-home mom. Its a tough job. And its very easy to lose your way ...
Its important to remember who you are - you are not just "mommy" (though that's a wonderful thing to be) and you are not just a "wife" or "housewife" or "homemaker". You are a woman who has needs. First and foremost, you need to take care of yourself. Only then, can you give 100% to the people you love.
You didn't mention if you have close friends/family or a support system. If not, it might be time. I know from personal experience that it is easy to isolate when you're feeling overwhelmed (or lonely - and yes, it is possible to be lonely in a room full of people). And what do alcoholics do when we're feeling down? We drink.
How do you fill your days? What do you do for YOU ??
