Driven to succeed

I have to post an update. You see, it is critical to my success. How many times I was going to give in but I knew people here are rooting for me. I feel almost like I'm in a contest with spectaters picking sides. You folks are out there rooting on me and I can't let you down. I did once and I felt awfull. Like I let the whole world down. (ok, so my brain has inflated my personal importance --- is that so bad???). The point is I need you all to root for me. If it is just me I would give in but, I have always been driven to do a good job. To satisfy others expectations of me. Now I need to think sobriety is not just for me. Others are watching. Others are rooting for me. Looking over my shoulder You all are very improtant to my success. Thanks

It is amazing how important perfect strangers have become? The great thing about everyone here is that we all hope for others to succeed.

We all need the support of others and if you're driven to do a good job do it for you too and your best expectations for yourself. Remember you're the one you'll spend the rest of your life with.

This is my 'go to' place where I know all of my thoughts, both positive and negative feel important. I know exactly what you are saying in your post, I also feel that people are rooting for me (which is an amazing, heartwarming feeling), but also the range of people here never fail to remind me of why I am sober, what I have to look forward to, and where I never want to be again.

Great to meet you!

Hi 49Creek, I am also new to this site and the support has been amazing. Everyone is incredibly kind and caring...just what we drinkers need. I am rooting for you and I know you will do it. Stay sober!

The support of the folks here absolutely helped me to change my life - I know we can do the same for you 40

I started off not wanting to let others down...as my mind cleared, and I grew stronger, I realised I didn't want to let myself down anymore.

I really hope you experience that shift too

40creek - I remember your earlier posts and I can hear how much you want this. I often have wondered how you are doing and have always hoped for things to work for you.

You DEFINITELY have people rooting for you - I have been since you first opened up and started posting. You CAN do this - use all the help available to you - your desire is strong. Best to you, my friend.

Keep up the good work

40creek,

I could have written the same post. I wouldn't have made it without this group. I rooting for you, I know you can do it. I see the resolve in your writing.

Thanks everyone. I'm having a very hard day today so I think I will just say thanks and Lurk. I often just read other posts and not join in. It's a mood thing I guess.

Reading and posting here, gave me the strength I needed, to get through the rough days. You can do this, one day at a time....sometimes an hour at a time. Just keep doing it 40 creek!!

:ghug3

Best Wishes To You!

40 creek! So glad you are making it. I remember you too and some of your first posts here. Too many start and fade away back to the drinking side. That is why it is so uplifting for me to see the folks I met here hang in there. This early on sobriety my emotions were all over the map, and my energy levels went from super high to low and everything in between. Hope you're not having any or minimal PAWS.

So good to see ya!
