48 minutes to go
So, like, the liquor stores close up here in Toronto at 5 pm, almost there!
Stuck to lemonade today!
I was sitting at a beach this morning in Toronto, staring south across Lake Ontario towards the United States (in the general direction of Buffalo, NY ;-))...thinking, thank GOD I don't live in the States, where I could walk into a grocery store/convenience store late on a Sunday evening to buy bread, and run into beer and wine (is that right?!)...I couldn't handle such late Sunday evening temptations.
At least in Toronto, I can't purchase alcohol after 5 pm on a Sunday afternoon, since all the liquor stores and beer stores close at 5 pm.
Anyway, gotta go...AA meeting soon.
I wish you all well!
Kelly

Try Nevada, wine, beer, hard stuff 24/7/365. Within an easy walk of my place are 3 24 markets and 4 casinos. The good news is I'm not even tempted. It feels so much freer for me now to rely on internal locus of control rather than external. The beach sounds nice. Little known fact, I lived in Buffalo along with a few dozen other places--I was big on geographic escape until I realized that wherever I went there I was.
Yep, I agree with Action - what time they close is irrelevant, Kelly!!
I've got a liquor store literally 5 minutes from my house, and I have told myself for the last 90 days that it's ceased to exist on my map. They sell milk and bread, too, and I used to nip in there for emergency supplies. Now we just have to drink black coffee when we run out, unless hubby's prepared to go instead
Keep strong, friend, and enjoy the summer.

you've heard of that song I Left My Heart In San Francisco ? Well I left my liver in Buffalo, that was one rough Summer, what a party town, the bars were open til 4:00 AM when I lived there and I was drinking RumpleMinz back then, thankfully those days are over ! I can remember getting so drunk once I fell off the porch of a bar and passed out, friends threw me in the back of a pick-up truck and hauled me home like garbage- nope don't miss those days... not at all.... Hang in there !

Ahhh those were the days. When I was living in Sweden, every Friday night I would find myself scrambling to the lone government monopoly liquor shop in my city, which closed on the weekends. I had 30 minutes after class got out and it was a 15 minute bike ride. The lines were always out the door with half the city stocking up. I would try to buy two weeks worth so I wouldn't have to do it again next week, but two weeks worth soon became one weeks worth.
Now I'm lucky enough to live in a very small town with only one general store - the only place to buy booze. Everyone knows everyone and everyone knows that I was hauled away in an ambulance a month ago. My wife and I just made up a disease and told everyone that I am taking some medication and I absolutely can not drink, this way no one tries to make me drink at the constant drinking parties after various events and functions, and I can't buy at the local shop because word will spread and it will blow the cover.
I have actually started to believe my own lie, so in a way, I am tricking myself into thinking that I will be in serious immediate medical danger if I have even a swig of beer.

@IndaMiricale I really envy you for the home-brewing experience. I have always wanted to try it, and there are so many traditional brews to be made from our surplus rice and sorghum from last year. And I have that beer brewing equipment that I never got around to using (because I was too drunk, I guess) Now I will never know "The Complete Joy of Brewing".
