6 Months Today..Life is Great
6 Months Today..Life is Great
Hey All,
Today I hit 6 months, and wanted to share a couple of things with you.
On Day 1 I felt like I could, nor never would, be able to make it past another day, 2 days...let alone months! And yet here I am. Not just sober, but a much better person, and happier than I remember being in years.
The journey is not an easy one guys, especially in the early days, but it truly has been an amazing one. It has been with the help of everyone here at SR that I have made it this far. Not just those that have many years under their belts and have shared their wisdom, but all those coming up behind me too.
For each and every persons journey to recovery here inspired me and gave me the hope that is needed to continue down this path of self discovery...and frankly freedom.
I worked hard at this, it didnt happen by itself, I got help and support and daily made changes to myself to ensure I never go back to getting all the rubbish that I always used to get.
Hey.... I look at it like I am still a work in progress, recovery is not something that is time limited....I know that I will always have to be working at it. But it truly is a pleasure.
My sons giggles, watching the sun come up with no hangover, spending time alone contentedly, having a laugh with friends without the need of an alcoholic drink in one hand.....and many many more things...all better SOBER!
So, to anyone starting out, grab on to the hope that it only gets better and keep on moving forward. The rewards are huge.
And to those of you here who have been inspirational to me and a large part of my recovery(you know who you are I am sure)

Hey Manz! Congrats on the 6 months, and thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
I'd also like to say a big THANK YOU for all your support, wise words and humor on the chat board. If I log in, you are nearly always there, asking how I am, and making me smile with your positive attitude and willingness to discuss everything, from funny anecdotes, favorite foods, and especially the real nitty gritty of addiction issues. You are such a star, and a huge asset to SR.
