Gotta love those barbecues!

Will wonders never cease!

1 hour ago, for the FIRST time in my life, I barbecued hamburgers for my son and myself - WITHOUT many, many beers in hand...just a nice, tall, icy cold glass of lemonade!

My 1st sober barbecue.

It was VERY cool.

Just wanted to share that.

Great post- I could never have imagined it was impossible to cook out with out multiple beers. It is actually possible and fun once you get used to it but it did take some time to get used to it.

That's great Kelly!

It's so good to enjoy the simple things and I'm sure your son appreciated it.

Son

Thanks a lot, Anna - yes, he was amazed to look out the kitchen screen door to watch me barbecuing without a beer in my hand and it was 94 degrees out!

Now I know what they meant, at rehab in April/May ..."look and act predictable"...so that those around me start to gain confidence that I really have changed.

This is one BBQ I will remember, because I was sober so I CAN remember it!

Good for you Kelly. I'm still stunned at how much easier things are when sober. And how much fun I can have. And after our fourth of july party I'm still finding beer bottles in the yard--but they're not mine. It's a funny feeling.
