Insanity
one of the things i tell the guys i work with,
watch those expectations
try not expecting anything, do the work,
get in a good habbit of daily recovery discipline,
and without the expectations,
one may just smell the results!
the roses too

No single treatment is appropriate for everyone. The NIDA points this out. I had to personally find this out the hard way and it nearly killed me.
There is more than one way to treat addiction. So changing ones thinking, behavior and recovery program can make the difference between life and death.
If its not working...stop it. Find a different approach to reach your goals. That is how things get done.

back to the original question, doing the same thing over and expecting different results... well, i think the real question is 'does that phrase help me to stay sober' or 'does that phrase give me permission to give up and reach for the bottle' because really all other possible meanings and interpretations have nothing to do with your (or mine, or anyone's) future plans for the use of alcohol.
