Farewell Betty Ford

Thank you for not being ashamed to publicly admit your addiction to drugs and alcohol. Thank you for holding your head up and confronting the problem without making excuses. You helped change our idea of what an addict is. Godspeed.

Yes, what a great example she was for women in particular, and for anyone with an addiction. I always remember an interview of hers where she said, that once she was sober she and President Ford never served alcohol in the White House. She has been a role model of mine.

I will always be grateful as it was because of her selfless work that got my mom sober and now that my mom isn't with us anymore she is with Betty Ford as angels.
