Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) admits he's got a drinking problem

Daniel Radcliffe: why I don't drink alcohol any more - Telegraph

(to the mods, I wasn't sure what forum this belonged in - I read through the descriptions of other ones but it didn't really seem to fit anywhere, and as I'm new to the site this is the one I'm most familiar with. Please move if I made a mistake!)

Anyway, Daniel Radcliffe has quit drinking because he admits he had a problem with it. I find this incredibly encouraging that a celebrity can do this before they hit rock bottom like so many have to do before they'll get help. If this gives even one of his fans the courage to take a look at their problem drinking, how wonderful that would be!

I just read this & was very surprised - but glad he shared it with everyone! So helpful. I liked his description of how he felt himself becoming too dependent on it to have a good time. That's just what I did at his age - but I went on for decades longer.

Thank you yogaisland.

I read this today and i swear it sounded like me and my situation. Knowing that im not the only one who cant go out and just have one drink....one drink turns into 2 bottles of wine and some shots. Its refreshing to see people admit they have a problem, and not to get the "Lindsey Lohan" point.

I'm glad that people are really starting to talk about alcoholism.

I just saw this. To admit this at age 21 can help a lot of young people.

Well done for him. I wonder how he approached recovery?

Thats awesome!
I have grown up with Harry Potter. Im 23. He will be a very good role model. Sice it is in the open now it will give him motivation to stay off the drink aswell!
