doing great... and then...

9th day sober, and all I want to do is have a drink. It's a mixture of my son acting like a typical defiant 8 year old, and being exhausted.

I think it's hilarious how I associate sleep with drinking. Tonight I'm going to bed early.

Despite my craving, I pass on drinking. Not gonna let my brain play tricks on me. Yes, being smashed would make dealing with my son easier (for a moment) and yes, it would help me get to sleep quickly...

But I have too much to live for.

Here's to another 24!

I am starting to differentiate between "real" thoughts (although I can hardly remember what it is like to have them) and what my sick alcoholic mind wants me to think.

Hang in there, life always has it's ups and downs. Adding alcohol doesn't make it better.

My first attempt at quitting was in August of 2010. Two weeks in I made a clear and conscious decision to drink. Once I got a little more sober time under my belt, I realized an alcoholic never makes a clear and conscious decision about alcohol. Any thoughts of alcohol are your alcoholic mind's thoughts. Ignore them.

Good luck.
