I need to take a moment and say..

I have been sober for 6 months today! My life is a 180. I live in Australia so it is early in the morning and I am going to start getting ready for work shortly.

In the last week I have been in social situations and happily did not want or need to drink. I have lost 40 pounds in total. I have started to rebuild my friendships (come out of hiding) as I was an alone drinker, one bottle at least of wine per night.

How did I do it? I just knew I had to stop, saw my doctor was completely honest and set a quit date.

I said in another post I joined here one week after quitting I called myself ring, the ring represented my love and committment to give myself the chance at the great life I know I deserve. I have stayed close to SR, this has been my support. I have acknowledged I am allergic to alcohol. And I am so happy. Thank you to everyone here who has shown support you have made a difference in my life.

Awesome news, Ring! These posts give us newbies alot of hope - when we still are dealing with the newness of it all, it's always great to hear how things can and do, turn around.

Great job Ring! A man's got to know his limitations, and I think we both figured it out.

Congrats!!

Thanks Everyone:

Here is some more of the changes:

No more shaking or anxiety, I can have a coffee with a friend or work colleague with out being scared my hands will shake, then worrying about them shaking would make them shake more. Such a relief

I can public speak again and feel comfortable in my skin with out becoming a shaking red wreck

If I don't understand something i am confident enough to ask for clarification rather than just assuming it is me hung over

My face is no longer bloated and red

My eyes are clear and alert

My fears are now becoming opportunities

Sleeping sober after you get through the initial challenges is so deep and peaceful

Social gatherings are amazingly interesting with out alcohol

I am a better person as I can give of myself with out that selfish thought of wanting to put my drinking in front of everything and everyone

My work is going great and achieving above my results

For all of you starting out I wish I could help you fast forward a few months so you could get a taste of how good things can be! thanks for listening everyone. What a great community this is.
