headache when I wake, and sleep so deep I cannot wake up. Is this normal?

day 7 here.

Day 2 I kept waking up during the night, unable to really sleep. I've experienced this before, and it sucked, but it was expected.

I started smoking again on day 2 in order to calm my nerves and have SOMETHING other than alcohol to latch on to for a while. I know smoking is disgusting, but since I"ve quit smoking before, I know i can again once I get my head on straight and clean from alcohol.

Anyway, every day since then I have the most difficult time waking up. It's as if I have a second "layer" of sleep that I"m covered with, and it's difficult to wake up

I'm unsure if these symptoms are due to withdrawls from alcohol, the reintroduction of smoking, or both.

In a perfect world it's due to my body wanting to make up for the 3 years of missing sleep I had from going to bed drunk every night.

I think so! I had the same thing happen.

Can you pick an alternative to smoking? That really can't be helping.

7 days is awesome. Keep it up!

Smoking will go, but for now I need to pick something, anything, other than drinking. Eating carrot sticks or exercise are not a good option for me until I can get out of withdrawls.

If I "over do it," I'm afraid that I'll fail miserably.

You're not trying to get "perfect" right now..Just getting through the withdrawls can be
tough..If you're like me..I am a drunk. I almost feel like "alcoholic" is too pretty of a word
to describe how I drink. And you are trying to save your life.

My only suggestion is to maybe smoke American Spirits until you feel strong enough to put down the cigs..Which I believe that you will.
