Introducing Teyu

Hello everyone;

I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself before I start posting in this wonderfully supportive community.

I am a single mom to an amazing little munchkin. I am alcoholic and I am also coming to terms with a 20 year old eating disorder. I am so tired of trying to escape life and I want to start really living. I know that only sobriety will give me that.

Time seems to be slipping by so fast. My kiddo is finishing kindergarten in a week. I want to spend the summer camping with him and doing other fun stuff while he still thinks I'm cool enough to hang out with.

I started drinking alcoholically in my early 20's. Getting drunk was a more immediate escape than the eating disorder had offered previously. I always knew my drinking wasn't normal. I snuck extra drinks and lied about it, never ate before drinking to ensure optimal absorption... all the tricks.

I was sober throughout my unexpected pregnancy and while the kiddo was an infant. Then I started to gradually slip over time. I'd drink after he went to bed.... one day a month lead to 2 days a month which lead to 1 day a week which lead to 2-3 days a week. Which is where I'm at now. I hate my lack of patience and enthusiasm for life.

I was 12 days sober and then messed it all up today. Tomorrow is a new start.

Hi Teyu

Little boys are so much fun! Mine is already 14 now and I miss the 5 year old him.

You are doing the right thing to get alcohol out of your life. You may need to try AA if it gets too hard alone. I did. There are a lot of moms there too which is nice. :-)

Wishing you well!
