RoadBlocks to my Spiritual Progress
Today I was struggling, and I was being a baby about certain things. I get a perverse sick satisfaction about doing things on my own and not reaching out for help. I call it being a VICKY (short for victim). I know in my heart this holds me back from moving forward in my progress. If I am struggling through a day I need to call and ask for help. I will tear down whatever I have built if I don't humble myself and reach out for help.

A lot of what you wrote is very dangerous talk for me. Since my recovery is based on an admission of powerlessness I cannot make statements such as "doing things on my own and not reaching out for help". Such statements, for me, are relapse. It is folly for me to assume that I know what should be done and how best to do it. It is why I pray for knowledge of God's will and the power to carry it out.

Reaching out for help is a real difficulty of mine too, i've recently gone through another period of a couple of months with a couple of meetings...done this before in sobriety...yet when i go it is a relief to be sitting there and a humbling experience which i definitely need!

Reaching for help can be as simple as me reading/practicing recovery literature skills or calling a recovery friend or coming here at SR to get inspired to carry on with my sober life.
Knowing that I needed help sure made the whole process of staying sober more manageable.
