That, I can relate too. ...but really, I didn't want to quit, I just wanted to control my drinking better and have it work for me instead of against me (like it did before). ...I think that's why it took a bit for me too.

I also really relate to your process/time line. I first called AA in 2005, but never went to a meeting. I told friends I was seriously considering quitting in 2008. I got here in 2010. You know, your post reminds me how much SR did for me. And it is sad that we all spent time doing this alone at first (and feeling like we were totally alone), but it makes me even more grateful we all have each other now. It really does take a community. Thanks for sharing your diary entry.
