Storms and Peace...

I kept my promise to myself.. I went home to AA tonight.

I woke ...as usual on the lounge.. and the first thought I had was 'oh hell what have I done.. reached out and contact someone' ...my thinking became obsessional.....but Id made a committment... To be honest I drank 2 wines to stop shacking and have a bath.. that felt good.. I havnt bathed for so long..

I raked up some clothes.. and waited for my lift... trouble is my part of Australia is storming and flooding... I turned to my daughter at about 6pm and said 'this is serious storms.. I cant go out in this'... she looked at me and said 'Mum ur full of crap'....

So we drove to the meeting...slowly..lol... the storm was so loud I thought
Whats the point. no one will be able to hear'...but oddly we I did.....The topic was fear... yep... my biggest nemisis.... I got alot from it and a new friend is going to a meeting tomorrow with me..

On the way home my mate and I stopped for Maccas to wait for the storm to pass {he could probably tell I need to eat..lol]... I told him I hate these storms and how can I drive to AA in them tomorrow..perhaps I should wait till they end...

he said.. 'Dont fight storms..ask and AA will give u peace amongst any storm'

Its nearly 3am...my home is being rocked by storms.. but I cant get that out of my head..

After the drama and ravages of addiction... I just want peace

You are on your way, Abbzi. Driving through that storm is SO symbolic, I've got shivers just reading about it. You are facing a huge fear...and you did it. People want you to succeed. So do you.

What a wise saying from your friend - I will remember it.

Keep safe with the storms and flooding.

I think.. no matter our drink history.. we all just want inner peace,,our greatest strength.. is handing that peace on...thats what my mate did.. in early recovery...AA people give me that peace.. even make me calm for 1.5 hours.. trust me I forgot what calm was

Good for taking positive steps to get help...

I just wanted peace too, didn't give a damn about whether or not i stopped drinking in the end, i just wanted peace...i only thought death would bring that but there is a solution in AA, it works and it's waiting:-)
