Hi all,
This is my first post but I have been reading on the forum the past few days. I'm pleased to say that I'm on day 5 and have made it through my first weekend without several bottles of wine. It feels amazing to wake up without a hangover, no regrets, etc, and to actually look forward to the day. Hopefully, I will remember these feelings when I am tempted to have "just one glass".

Hi and welcome to SR
I found reading and posting here was great for reminding me that I can't actually have that one glass.
SR's certainly helped me turn my life around - I hope we can help you too

Iwantmeback,
Welcome. In addition to reading what is current on SR, when you find someone with a lot of sober time that you think had some magic strength that you don't, you can go back to read all their early posts. Any strength you see here is the strength in numbers, and the strength gotten from sobriety and life. That is a good thing to do whenever you feel that no one ever faced the same difficulties to the degrees that you have and will. I know I did.

welcome! I don't post all the time but I like to read... and sometimes it's a great place to get things off of my chest. I'm at 89 days right now but I remember being at a week and thinking I had a "good chunk of time" under my belt... and it being so hard to go more than one day sober. It gets better.

Making it through the weekends are tough at first, then they are soooo much more enjoyable and productive that alcohol becomes a distant memory. I want to get back to that place again after having had 5 years sober 5 years ago that ended with my thinking I could moderate, now back to square one.
Keep coming back. I sure am Day 2 here...

I hope I'm posting correctly
So nice to sign on and see all of this love! Thank you for your support and I hope to give back to all of you someday. Another day down and no cravings. I even went to the gym today during lunch. I'm thinking that it might be helpful to start a journal so that I can look back and see my progress just in case I get a craving. We are throwing a party for a friend in the next few weeks and going on a trip next month and booze will be everywhere and calling my name. Funny how my brain is telling me that it's okay to drink during these times but I'm not going to fall for it. I already have my excuse ready that I'm on medication and it's not safe to drink.
