You will get more experienced and qualified people posting better replies but what you said just made me think that by switching the words around and changing just one you get -

recovery keeps you alive and breathing

Good question though Im looking forward the replies.

Action. It literally it all starts with action. When I notice a dip in my "feelings" torward recovery I can always trace it back to my actions - and normally it's my lack of action.

When I am in a good spot with my recovery I am going to several meetings per week, I am connected with other alcoholics (friends), I am coming to this site often, I am looking for ways to help others, and I am praying to my HP.

I have had great weeks followed immediately by crappy ones. The difference is ALWAYS action. We are what we do, not what we think. Keeping my priorities in line helps a ton also. Now that I am sober I have the ability to do so many things. Going out with friends, participating in various hobbies, being there for family, etc... None of those things are done very well when I am drinking. The trick for me is staying grounded and active in my recovery even when it feels like I don't need to.

That's the reason I am up so early today. Going to a 7am and then a 9am. AA twoaday lol...

Just my two cents.
