Bank account

It's day 33. Hurray!! I was just online checking my bank account and I noticed something was very different. Usually I have shame when I check as there are always several charges on there from various liquor stores. None this time. This was a proud moment for me. Funny how clear things are when you become sober. :c031:

It is! Congratulations! :c011:

You might want to consider taking that money each week and putting it in a savings account. At the end of a year, it will give you a very clear picture of just how much money you WERE wasting, and are NOW saving! :)

Congrats on 33!

I can relate. My recyclables container used to be a huge source of shame for me (and revenue for the bottle collector). Now it's a monument to a healthier, happier life.

HA! I know whatcha mean. LOL
When I was in rehab they had you add up your total -an average of weekly spending of alcohol on the duration of the years you drank.
Being very conservative I came up with about $65,000.

Holy crap! That thought made me almost want to throw up. I could have paid mine and my daughters student loans off, got my masters degree and put myself in a nice home. Damn it man! Oh well. Before I started drinking again, I lived by the saying "move forward and never look back, you can't change the past." I miss that person. I hope I can find her again.

The worst part of any binge for me, cause I take pain pills for the hangover :) is five days later when I get around to justifying the receipts on the counter against the checkbook. I have started separating the alcohol and non-alcohol receipts to keep the costs straight and we had been spending at least 300 a week on alcohol between the two of us. And I'm not even counting the food the next day--when I could not cook and needed grease.
