Two weeks tomorrow but still tired?

Hi!

It will be my 14th day tomorrow (already counting ahead) since I last drank.

Apart from having some strange dreams and conversations with myself in the shower about how it might be OK to have a drink I am managing kind of OK.

But I am absolutely exhausted, had two lie ins which is something i have not had for over 10 years - is that normal, it is body recovery?

Thanks!

Yes. I am now at 40 days, and I can have some serious sleep-ins - up to 10 hours at a stretch, which is very unusual for me. I think it's probably my body regenerating and making up for the terrible quality of sleep I had all the time I was drinking.

Just make sure you are eating well, drinking plenty of water, and taking exercise (even just a brisk walk). Enjoy the fact your body is working to hard to heal. See your doc for a full check up if you are worried.

I slept and slept in early recovery. It was very healing. I think I was getting about 10 hours a night. Waking up feeling great but so tired again the next night. Still (9 mos in)I sleep more than I did when I was drinking. Finally taking care of myself!

I think it's normal, and for me, I was also exhausted emotionally, as well as physically. I had been used to being on hyper-alert during my drinking days because I was working hard to hide everything. When I stopped drinking, I realized that I was not only tired physically, but in every way.

Day 22 for me and I'm beyond tired. If it's wasn't for iced espresso I'm not sure I could function. I've heard this is normal as well.

Yes, same here. I guess passing out wasn't considered quality sleep!!! I'm still tired alot at day 90, but its getting better. I hear exercising helps.....

Very normal woowaa.

I think most of us drink for years - as people have said, it takes a little while to recover from that, physically and emotionally

Keep it up - two weeks is great- congratulations!
