Wish me luck my SR friends

Hi Everyone: Well I have a big presentation this week to around 30 people. It will be my first one with out a hangover. I have a great new suit and bright shirt. I hope I shine!

Funny it is now 5 months no drinking, i still feel anxious and will no doubt talk a little fast but wow what a feeling to not be drinking a bottle of wine the night before to go a numb. I am hitting life full on and I am anxious but excited.

Wish me luck guys!!

Good luck on the presentation. Doing it without a hangover will be so much easier especially if people ask you questions and you need to think on your feet.

My best wishes go out to you. It's interesting that most people use alcohol to relieve their anxiety and then can somehow function in the workplace with a hangover. That was certainly the case with me. We are better people sober and I'm sure you are going to give a fabulous presentation!

This is the SR group rooting for you!

Ring...when I was drinking, public speaking sent me into horrible anxiety. Since quitting, I've found I'm still a little nervous, but nowhere as bad as I was.

Best wishes to you! Please let us know how it goes!

Hi Ring - Good luck on your presentation - remember, one foot in front of the other, and let the outcome be what it will be.

I had to do a presentation a few weeks ago- first one since quitting- and it went well. The best part was not feeling thick-headed and lacking vocabulary. I am sure you'll be great and once you're done you'll realize what a difference sobriety makes.

Good luck, but I don't think you'll need it!

Best of luck! You have the right attitude...and it's a lot better to have some normal anxiety than withdrawal jitters lol...

Awesome. Good Luck. It is almost unbelievable but not unexpected what we can accomplish sober. Wishing you the best...and don't spill coffee on your new suit!

Hello Everyone! Well I had my presentation, I feel like I am a living experiment at the moment on what it is now like being sober after a solid 15 years of drinking.

It was interesting I had the normal anxious feelings of talking in front of people, but the difference of not being hung over, normally I would drink more than a bottle of wine the night before stumble to bed and wake up and gasp at what I looked like in the mirror. This time I bounced out of bed, got dressed and set about going to my presention. I did it!! I started out a bit shaky but then feel into a groove and ended up enjoying it! A couple of questions were asked that I did not understand but rather than thinking I know I am hungover and not understanding I asked them to clarify and had confidence in my answer.

Thanks for your support, well wisher I kept thinking about the one foot in front of the other so simple but so helpful. I look forward to doing more things sober that scared me before. I was proud and had a spring in my step for the rest of the day. I read your posts a couple of times before hand and it gave me more strength.

Well the night came and I had a dream about being with Steven Tyler! not sure where that came from - American Idol perhaps. He asked if I wanted a drink and I said to him, unfortunately I can't stop at one Steven, so I better not have that first one!
