My alcoholic mother

I've never claimed to be a good writer, but it's nice to let my feelings out. I, by the way, am 90 days sober.

Living with the deepest sadness
That I never thought I could feel

Surviving with the hope of recovery
Which dwindles with every drop

Existing with the need to heal you
Yet I know I'm not enough

Dying with the anguish of your denial
For I know you'll never stop

Send that to her. Tell her that. You'll never know what it may take to finally get through to her. Remember it has to be in her time. Plant the seed. Congrats on your 90 days.

Good job on your 90 days, Jil. What a wonderful achievement!

Surely the increasing clarity of sobriety is bittersweet inasmuch as it sharpens the focus and understanding of your mother's situation. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

Welcome and congratulations on your sobriety. Addiction is a disease of time -it has to be her time. I'm sorry it hurts so many. Glad you are here.
