Greetings,
I'll have five months soon and I was looking for some support. I've been seeing a therapist who keeps suggesting that I go to AA; however, I'm trying to get over the anxiety of it. I have been several times in the past and listened to members and have best friends who go. I thought I'd start here and look for some support.
My last binge was New Year's. It's almost been five months of sobriety and I'm slowly slowly feeling better. I'm 29, been drinking since 14, as the drinking progressed into addiction. Exercise, reading, and meditation help. Avoiding trigger situations is essential. Just a quick introduction. I'm sure I'll be back....

Welcome larsa. Congratulations on the 5 months. That's fantastic.
I quit the end of January...and ran to the first AA meeting I could get to. I couldn't wait to get there. I felt as though it was part of what I needed to do in my journey. I love it and all my friends are there. I can't go every week because of my work schedule but go as much as I can.
I understand alot of people have anxiety over going...but it really isn't that bad. They've heard all the stories...its nothing new. Except for you...but you won't know if you don't go.
