Day 32 rehab for Kelly - back home

So, like, I came back home yesterday afternoon, took a train and 2 buses, what a pain...I'm driving my car back on Monday, for sure, enough of this public transit!

I drove by 4 liquor stores on the way to my meeting last night, I said a prayer for strength, and just kept driving. I must have a Higher Power, after all.

I wish you all a serene 24...I'm on my 2nd coffee of the day, feels great.

Got lots to occupy my time, today - thank God I have SR to check in with, also.

I'm on Day 33 sober.

Kelly

When I say Hillshire, you say Farms.
Hillshire Hill ...Hill...Hillshire.....FARMS lol

I luv that commercial..! lol It's pretty catchy.

Happy Sober Saturday Kelly.

Im glad you made it home safe and sound.

It's amazing how there are so many things in
lifethat can aggrivate us just like transportation. With
taking the train and bus you managed to stay at
peace. And you came up with a solution for Monday
to make it less stressful for you by taking your car.

That was a great choice.

As we know, we have no control over people, places
and things. All of that will happen whether we like it
or not. The secret is how to avoid drinking and getting
aggrivated or upset over them.

You also noticed liquor stores along the way. They wont
move out of sight just because we r in recovery. The stocked
shelves at the grocery store will always be there. I have to
remind myself that just cause im in recovery and cant drink
sucessfully like normal people can, i cant wish alcohol to dis-
appear.

The trick is to not sit there and fantasize or dream about maybe
one day ill be able to enjoy it cause I cant. It just aint gonna
happen. And that's ok with me, because I will always remember
my last drunk and how it almost took my life.

Alcohol didnt work then and it surely wont work for me now.

Want to know why? When i come here to SR or go to a meeting,
so many go back out to try it to only return time and time again
to let me know alcohol and drugs are still alive and well and kicking
peoples butts big time.

I quickly get back into my grateful mode and move on quickly
away from the thought or temptation of posion. My memorized
Serenity Prayer, 3rd step prayers or just a simple God help me
works quickly for me cause I have no control or will power over
the temptations of drinking.

Counting days sober is ok because for an alcoholic to not drink
for any length of time is a huge accomplishment. Thumbs
up for 33 days Kelly.

However, staying in today and only today is great. Today u'r sober
and how wonderful it is. Yesterday is gone and its behind you.
Tomorrow, well, I pray and my HP willing I can live to see another
sober day.

Enjoy each moment as you stop and admire the sun today. A new
flower booming. The birds that fly above. A quiet peaceful place to
sit away from all the hecticness of the world. Grateful and blessed
to have supportive family and the fellowship in recovery.

Enjoy your new sober day..!
