Why I can't tell the kids I've quit (humor)

:rotfxkoI cannot tell the kids I have quit drinking because...

as of now they think I'm out drinking every Friday night--

so they don't ask me to babysit on Friday night or Saturday morning.

Now that I seem so chipper, they're lining me up.

How do you fake a hangover?

(a joke guys--I'm babysitting tomorrow night and have bought tickets for an antique steam train ride with the grandpeople next Saturday)...

But seriously. I have built this space where I'm irresponsible and, poof, it's gone.

I suppose it's a testament to the madness of hangovers that pondering the mechanics of faking one is itself exhausting.

Wow Ranger. I'm sooooo confused.

We always called hangover day "lobotomy day." I will miss the light lobotomy days. The days when I was no good but not in agony. It was a rare occurrence, but sort of lovely.

But here I am on Friday night. It's 9:45 where we are. We know there is a band at our bar -- five miles away. It's a country bar and would be a country band. We are serious rock and roll lovers, but whatyagonnado? I know I could have gone there for this and had soda and danced. I kinda wanted to. But it is a risk, so we stayed home.

Phil has run into town for ice cream then we sleep without an alarm set. Will wake up happy and ready to have a day!

Some of the best days begin after waking up WITHOUT the excruciatingly obnoxious sound of an alarm clock!! Enjoy!

I understand your confusion, because from what you describe you and I had quite dissimilar hangover experiences! My hangovers were typicallly wrought w/symptoms that--on a normal day--would be laborious to duplicate. Digestive system all jacked up, occasional dizziness, headache....yuck!

My wife and I are visiting my parents on the Ozarks this weekend. It's rained a lot down here lately, but overnight the winds came in to shoo away the clouds. I slept in the room of my childhood last night with a 65 degree breeze dancing from head to foot more or less continuously. It was wonderful, and today we'll visit my grandparents who live next door to each other "in town" (amazingly, I'm nearly 37 and have only lost one grandparent).

I mention all this only to say that life is good. Hope you have a wonderful, sober Saturday, M7.

I remember those days: I'd rather have a lobotomy than actually say "No" to someone. Ah...crazy times....
