I am new to this site. I quick using alcohol on May 2, 2011. I was a wine drinker. After learning of affairs from my ex wife I used alcohol to reduce anxiety and help fall asleep at night. I drank anywhere from a bottle of wine and 3-4 beers on a bad night to only a bottle or just a couple beers on a good night. The withdrawal symptoms were mild...however i suffer from panic disorder and the anxiety symptoms/ racing thoughts are off the charts this week. Is this normal?

Yes, he gave me effexor xr....the low dose was fine but when I went to 75mg I got violent angry and out of body thoughts so I quit it immediately. He then told me the drug still told me it would work so I dropped him.

Congrats on the sober time! Not sure if you took more than prescribed with the 75mg? If so, that may be why it didn't work right. However, if the medication did not work, consider talking to a different Dr. Good luck and welcome to SR.
