Tired! Why?
Tired! Why?
Today is day two. I hadn't been in too much trouble before that as I've been on and off since April 10, but last night I got to bed, sober, at 10:30--slept like a rock. Woke up at 6:30 or so and just couldn't wake up.
I've been more tired than usual all day. Is this something others experience? One of my drinking patterns is to go out of an evening exhausted and a couple of drinks in I stop knowing how tired I am. Caffeine isn't fixing it.
Ideas?

I was really, really exhausted the first week.... I think our bodies are just desperately trying to recover and are suddenly being forced to use FOOD for energy rather than the quick energy/fuel of alcohol.
It got better for me. I hope it does for you, too. :-)

Missy, from what I've been reading recently, you've put your body through a bit of a roller coaster these last few weeks. I think, with all the bouncing back and forth between sobriety and drinking (plus all the emotional stuff that comes with that), you've worn yourself out! Don't forget, it takes quite a while for the alcohol to leave your system. I really didn't feel better until around Day 5-6. Stick in there, and don't push yourself too much - you've been through a lot...
Eat well. Try and rest. Think of it a bit like flu, so nuture yourself and give your body a chance to heal. All the best!

Thanks guys. I will try to be in bed by 11:00. Tomorrow is busy but not gruelling. That's nice.
Honestly, I think a lot of us think that short of DTs there are no ramifications and quitting is no big deal. But maybe it is. I'm able to do my work well, but I'm pretty tired when I'm done. Looking forward to Day 3.

I also thought there were no ramifications to me quitting. Boy, was I wrong! I naively thought drinking on average a bottle of white wine an evening wasn't really a big deal. When I quit, it took 3 days of night sweats, fever, aching neck and back, pounding headache, extreme tiredness, nausea, crawling sensations on my skin etc etc to realize that it really had been knocking me for six for the last 5 years or so. Awful. I don't EVER want to go through that again. Keep plodding on, Missy!
