Day 4 .. Nice to eat Dinner
As many know, the hydraulic dinner was a big clue that alcohol was back! Nice to sit down and eat in the evenings with family. I have organized a number of things in the evening that forces me to stay focused on NOT drinking, kids sport etc... baby steps, but before you know it day 7 plus (which is my hanging up point!) So by the time I 'sit' down in the evening it is 9 or later, tired but feel I have been productive = my old self. Small update and best of wishes to all starting out on this road.
Carbo load, get plenty of salt, tobasco sauce - and enjoy how good it all feels. When I was in treatment we were hyper aware of what was at mealtime.
While I'm doing the carbo loading to the extent I was, 3 meals a day are crucially important. They are much more enjoyable too.
Sunday night was steak, mashed potatos, green beans, shrimp. I look forward to GOOD food now the way I did my Busch light.
Hot peppermint tea helps me out on the OCD habit of having to have something to drink.
Food will only get better for you - and it's awesome!
My 5 year old daughter and I still have nightly M&M time too.

Congrats! Keep it going. It's not easy, but it's sure worth it. It does get easier over time. I loved seeing my "old self" come back. I loved being able to make commitments and honor them, I loved being able to kiss my son's good night and not worry about if they could smell the poison on my breathe.
Alcohol is just a big pain in the ass that ties us down and makes us slaves to it.
Keep up the good work!
