ME? No way!!

I'm 6 months sober today!

6 months!! A whole half a yr!
What's crazier, is that it doesn't even feel that long..but it sure feel good. :)

Wow..never in a million yrs did I ever think I'd hear myself say that.
I grew up around alcohol all my life. It's very acceptable to drink and get drunk in my family. It's what we do when we get together no matter what the reason. Funeral=drinks, birthday party=drinks, sports game=drinks, park, zoo, beach, someone shows up unexpectedly to your home=drinks!
But for me, it didn't end when I got home. If anything, that's when it got worse.

But now...It feels so good to wake up at a normal hour and know its morning. It feels so good to tuck my kids in at night, instead of passing out and them waiting for dad to come home to do it.
It feels so good to be able to take them places as simple as the park or for ice cream when before I couldn't because I'd be so drunk.
It feels so good to be a mom again!

Thank you so much to SR and all its members and stories/advice I've come across for giving me needed support. Many sleepless nights accompanied by anxiety have turned into laughing til 2 am (sometimes longer) because of the chat room and the people on there. I've met some really cool people that I look foward to chatting w/ again and again.

It's 100% possible to get sober and enjoy life. I'm living proof, as many of you are.
Thank you all!! :ghug3
