Mr. Kelly

Hi all, Day 12 here at Homewood rehab.

2 SR members just PM'ed me, thinking I was a woman.

I am a 49 year old MAN.

Little education for you: Kelly is an Irish Gaelic word, going back over 1,000 years - it means "soldier" in the Irish Gaelic language.

It was always meant to be a MAN'S name, period, end of story.

Someone, in assume, decided 100 or 150 years ago that Kelly sounded "cute", like Cindy, or Mandy (i.e. girl names), and suddenly girls started being named Kelly, also.

But, to recap: Kelly was always a MAN'S name, never intended to be a female name.

Thanks for reading this.

I wish you all a serene 24.

Kelly Patrick David.

I know both males and females named Kelly. I like the name, whether it's attached to a woman or a man.

When I was growing up my name was considered a boy's name and I'm female. Now it is predominantly a girls name. It's all good to me.

Support and well wishes are heartfelt. Sometimes its hard to tell with SR names. I don't believe anyone does it on purpose.

Best Wishes MR.KELLY. lol

:ghug3 Thanks for the explanation.

Mr. Kelly,

I know who you are...by your story of your family. Good health, healing and peace to you and your family. May God bless you in everything you do.

It's also a shade of green derived from Ireland. =)
My neighbors name is Kelly (a man).
I think the name Kelly was popular for girls back in the late 60's early 70's. I knew a few girls with that name. But most would spell it Kelli.
I know your a guy. LOL Sometimes its hard for people to read thru the post to decipher what the sex. And some don't put it in their profile.

Well sometimes Kelly it boils down to a fear of the sonogram being incorrect. My daughter used unisex names for 2 of her 3 kids so the name would work regardless of the sex of the child. And I know more men Kellys and now that I say that I know no women Kellys...Nice name tho.

Homewood is an awesome program. I'm from Ontario myself. If I could have afforded it, I would have went there myself. If you don't get what you need there, you're probably not going to recover ANYWHERE. HAHA.

Best of luck brother. It's a tough battle, but you've got some EXCELLENT people around you.
