Music and recovery
Although there are alot of songs that remind me of drinking, I have to learn that radio, etc is spontanious and my only control over it is changing the station! LOL I like the older classic rock and always find myself back to that...AC/DC, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Eagles even Ozzy. But most of the memories of times gone by -I can move on. The only song I still cant listen to is George Thorogood's "I drink alone"! LOL Its' too concentrated on booze. I just try to stay with the times and let songs create new memories -sober ones.
I'm not a christian fanatic but I've been liking Skillet. New band/songs for a new soul.
I don't use the ipod and all that new technical stuff. I'm an old fashioned girl! LOL
(Ok, I admit it....I just don't know how!)

BillSaint-I second your Van comment (see my screen name), but I will be putting away my old collection for awhile.
I am learning to play the guitar and listening to freash new music as I make some changes personally.

Music is such a HUGE part of my life and always has been....there is some of my music that used to trigger but now I listen to it and it's an inspiration for me! Most of my music is considered "dark" and "depressing"...but it's what I relate to, what I have always known and it actually helps me...deal with life.
I agree with some of the others, maybe you need to branch out and try listening to some new music - I bet you'll find some stuff you like

i have a sponcee that is a writer and lead singer,
he went from writing manic dark tunes,
to at least a bit more down to eart and inspiring
on the other hand, i also have a sponsee that play in clubs, and sits in with our band from time to time.
i suggested he aint ready yet,
the spiritualy fit bit got him
he wasnt, and has fallen three times

I too have changed up what I listen to. Having a border taste of music genre has helped me to be comfortable with rocking tunes. I just could not drop the tunes from my daily life. I love music...it is a part of me.

As Jazz Clubs were where I did a lot of alcoholic drinking
I did quit going to them for maybe a year in sobriety.
I also tucked away the records... 8 tracks..,,,and tapes for awhile.
Yes I did have those way back when...
Instead of Jazz music...I returned to Classical and still enjoy it more
