Craving a drink
2 in the morning and woke up with a lot of anxiety/craving a drink.
Thought occurs to me that my alcoholism is kind of like a hydra, when I lop off one head (drinking) another self-destructive facet of the disease kicks in (cigarrettes, unhealthy relationships, etc.) This self-destructive force inside me is really strong and will search for any number of ways to make itself felt.
Just wanted to post on here instead of drinking.

Hi comanche
Yeah, cravings are tough - but they're finite
Coming here is a good idea - lots to read and get engaged in
I found the ideas in this link helpful too

yes it was a great idea to post instead of drinking!
Those self-destructive lies may be predominant until some more time passes with not acting on those urges. They do pass. Getting real with them ASAP is my method of living through the discomfort of the experience.
Learn all you can and then apply the suggestions to find out if they help. Always make more than one effort to be sure you are giving it your best effort. If it works the first time....well then, there ya go.
Peace,
Missy
