The Easter Story
I just remembered that, of the 6 times I've been in the hospital with alcohol poisoning, that the 1st time was Good Friday, 2008 - it's been 3 long years, wow.
I feel so safe, being in Homewood Health Centre rehab here, the next 4 days, very quiet, going on walks, lots of coffee and chocolate, doing my assignments for the social workers, enjoying my recovery readings, and even a little World War II history (yes, they have general history and biography and sports books in our Homewood library, in addition to recovery related books! I signed out a book on the first 2 years of World War II!)
Even my back seems a little better, and I am sleeping better, with the new meds prescribed by the doctor here who is an Addiction Specialist.
And to know they want me back at work, after this, wow!
Off for coffee and a chat with some fellow alkies in the greenhouse, back soon.
I highly recommend rehab.
The oxycotine addicts and marijuana addicts are getting lots out of the program, as well as us alkies.
And so are the ones suffering from anxiety, depression, OCD, post-acute withdrawal syndrome, panic disorders, etc.
And the food ain't half bad, either - what a bonus!
We'll have a nice Easter church service on Sunday at 10:00 am, then I think I'll take a walk into the city, as they just gave me "full" privileges, meaning I am being trusted to leave the rehab hospital on my own, as of this morning.

Rehab and SR
Nice to get breaks periodically, between meetings, to hop on to SR at Homewood's library, on 1 of 8 computers, to see what's happen' with the SR gang.
Glad I won't be around alcohol this weekend, phew.
Maybe I can apply for a job as janitor here, when my 5 weeks are up, so I don't have to go home...they can give me a cot to sleep on, here.
Whadaya think?
Joking.

Hey - I know how you feel - I didn't want to leave at the end of 30 days....!
And it's SO nice having 3 meals cooked for you.......(maybe that's why I wanted to stay haha!) This is my third time getting sober and the other two times I went to rehab. I highly recommend it too. It was harder doing it this time without the jump start.
So good to read your positive posts, Kelly!
